First 3 Pictures from Hawaii

sunny

C's now in his second week of being in Hawaii. Getting settled in to his new temporary barracks, meeting the people he's going to be working with, taking care of business to get the kids and I over there too. The whole first week was spent in-processing and it sounded like a ton of paperwork and nothing fun or cool. Not to mention they were waking him up at 4:00am for PT!

This second week sounds better. He's on a more "normal" schedule and gets to feel more like a regular person. PT at 6:00am, go home for breakfast and a shower, go back to work and then go home in the afternoon. His time after work is actually his own time; he hasn't had that luxury since January.

So now he's found internet access, has his newly exchanged digital camera and I have the first 3 pics that he's sent home. I didn't think to ask, but knowing that he has no car of his own, and no friends with cars yet... these pictures were taken at or near the base exchange and his barracks.

Gotta love the views at these everyday places on Oahu. I imagine there isn't anywhere that's not pretty to look at.

The kids and I will get to go sometime in August! We await the closing on the sale of our house, and then we're outta here! Paradise awaits.

C is in Hawaii Now!!

overcast

The past 10 days really went fast!! C graduated and is now officially a Combat Medic in the Army. He came home for his 10 days of leave, tho it was really 9 days because he had to be in Los Angeles by 11am on the port call day.

We had a great time, and a nice vacation while he was here. Lots of swimming at a pool, trips to the beach, and to a local water park with the kids. Shopping, movies, eating out... it really was a vacation. Here's one pic taken on the way out somewhere:

He arrived in Honolulu yesterday, July 10th, at 4:45pm. He called when the plane landed and took a couple of pictures from the plane's window - I hope those turn out! He says "Yes, the water really is that blue!". LOL!! And it was 90* there.

He was promoted while home on leave too! We found out very unceremoniously by looking to see if his unit information was online yet, and saw the new rank instead! That was good news.

So now the kids and I are back to waiting. C will start the paperwork process to get us command sponsored so that the Army will send us over too. I really have no way of knowing any timeline, but it will probably be around 2 months... so mid-September, unless we get lucky.
