That New Shoe Feeling

It's a really good feeling buying your kids new shoes. Especially if they're different than normal and ones that will get loads of use. It just occurred to me yesterday that E starts basketball today and she doesn't have any sort of basketball shoes! This lead to a fast trip to the PX to see what they had for sneakers.

That kid has my feet!!! She's 11 years old and wears a women's size 7! So after searching the racks and piles of shoe boxes, we found a pair of New Balance shoes that we both liked. Price tag said $66, and a second one under it said $44.50 or something. The box was on the clearance pile, so I figured the $44 WAS the clearance price. And carried on. N wanted some new shoes too, so we checked his out. There was one pair of Nikes on the "new wall" for only $28 and I considered that to be a bargain, so we got his size (Size 1) and took off.

We get to the checkout line with two pairs of shoes, two packs of new socks, two bottles of water and a copy of The Army Times and the whole thing comes out REALLY cheap. I check out the receipt and E's sneakers rang up at $14.97!! They were 60% off! LOL So all of a sudden N's Nikes didn't look like a great deal anymore!
